October Athlete of the Month: Michele Hallam

How and when did you discover CrossFit & what concerns or problems did you have before you started?

I started with EverProven almost two years ago when a friend asked me if I wanted to join her for a small group training with Coach Sara. I had always been a runner and focused all my time exercising on cardio, so I was intimidated about training at a CrossFit gym, I’d never weight trained before.

What results have you gotten so far?

I have gained strength and have muscle definition that I never had before from just running. I have seen improvements in my performance over time including other activities like running or biking.

What is different about EverProven services?

I think the coaches and community are the difference at EverProven. The coaches meet you where you are at skill wise and provide modifications while you work your way up. I have never once felt like I couldn’t get through a class because of my limitations. I also love the accountability I get from the other members in my class which I can’t say you get at other gyms.

What would you tell someone that is on the fence about joining EverProven?

I would say that EverProven has options for anyone. If you are nervous about being in a large group, you have the option of personal training which is how I started. I personally have taken advantage of specialty programs such as Hustle to Muscle, TRX, and a nutritional workshop because that’s where I feel most comfortable. It’s also great to have the option of joining a fun event like kickball to strengthen that feeling of community. I also love that EverProven offers Pilates and other sessions to its members outside of the normal classes. I’m actually super excited for my son to start Treehouse Kids since he’s always asking to learn about the gym!

What is one interesting fact many people don’t know about you?

In the beginning of COVID my family started mounting biking as a way to get outside and be active together. We really found ourselves loving downhill biking and any weekend we aren’t at the baseball field, we are usually loading our bikes on a ski lift and riding down the mountain!
