Hard things happen in life, and no matter when they happen or what they are, it’s always overwhelming.
Sometimes workouts can feel that way, and you think “I cannot do this,” but you find a way. Then 5, 10, 20 minutes later you have survived. And not only that, you’ve completed something you were previously unsure you could do!
Did you know, neurologically, you retrain the networking within your brain EVERY TIME you think “I don’t think I can, but I am going to anyway.” When tough times arise, this rewiring makes it easier to push through and accomplish things you may be uncertain or scared of. Your thoughts combined with positive forward action are so powerful!
It’s the old saying, “If you think you can you’re right and if you think you can’t you’re also right.”
It doesn’t matter if anyone else says you’re incapable. It doesn’t matter if you have people praising your strength. It’s all dependent on you and your mindset.
So, the next time you’re grinding through a workout and that little voice in the back of your head peeps “I don’t think I can do this…” be sure to have that lion within you roar “but I WILL keep going!” Because in the moment the clock says 3-2-1 done you’ve changed your brain for every single challenge you’re going to face in the future. The more you show up and do that, the stronger that connection becomes.
The gym doesn’t just strengthen your body, it also enhances your mental fortitude. Mine has been tested A LOT over the course of this month; and if not for the efforts I have put in for the last couple years at the gym, good chance the outcomes wouldn’t be as positive as they have been!
