Its that time again! Let’s get to know Coach Jess Plante! Jess came to us with a great background and we are so excited and grateful to be able to have her as part of our team. Jess serves as not only as one of our fitness coaches, she is also the Head Nutrition Coach for our nutrition consulting and accountability practice – Proven Performance Nutrition! Here we go…
Give us a brief history of your athletic background and your relationship with CrossFit and EverProven…
Before I found CrossFit I was always an athlete. I was a figure skater for most of my life, finishing my 15 year skating career in 2007 with a national championship and a 4th place finish at the world championships as a member of the US National Synchronized Figure Skating team. After figure skating I entered the world of endurance racing, including a handful olympic distance triathlons, a half Ironman triathlon, and 9 marathons. I tried CrossFit for the first time, after much persuading from friends, almost 6 years ago and instantly fell in love with the sport after my first workout. I qualified and competed at regionals in 2014 in the team competition. My first gym was Reebok CrossFit St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. I completed a coaching internship at this gym, learned to coach, and eventually took over as head coach in 2016. I moved back to the area in September of 2017. I have been friends with Matt through the fitness community for years and was lucky enough to come on board as a coach. I have felt incredibly welcomed into the EverProven community and it quickly started to feel like home.

What non CrossFit activities you enjoy or what you like to do outside of the gym?
I love the beach, hiking, and hunting down adventures. Traveling is one of my most favorite things, seeing and exploring new places is high on my list! I also love to cook!

I am an avid baker and love making fun and crazy cakes!
What are your specialties and/or what type of athletes you like to work one on one with?
I love working one on one with new athletes, particularly teaching barbell movements. My strong suit as a coach is working with newer athletes on the olympic lifts, breaking them down into simple pieces allowing for a better understanding of the movements.
