How and when did you discover CrossFit?
I first learned about it through rumors and thought it was insane and definitely not something I could ever do. Then I met people who actually did it and taught me that anyone could do it. So I decided to go for it when the opportunity presented itself.
How has CrossFit affected you since you started?
Wow. How HASN’T it? My energy, fitness, and confidence levels are all up. My eating and sleeping habits have improved a ton along with my focus and motivation. I’m happier and a lot less anxious on a regular basis. Plus, it has really sunken in how much control I have over my health and wellness if I’m willing to prioritize it.
What class do you normally attend?
I’m an 830am girl with a side of noon, mostly.
What are your short and long term goals?
In the short term, I’d like to maintain consistent class attendance which I have had some difficulty with in the recent past. I’m also trying to continually challenge myself with heavier weights during metcons.
I have a lot of long term goals, including getting more comfortable with/better at snatches and overhead squats, learning toes-to-bar, getting a strict pull-up, and being able to do push-ups without scaling them in workouts.
What’s your favorite WOD/movement?
It’s hard to pick one, but I’m never upset about dumbbell snatches, jump rope, or squats.
What’s your LEAST favorite WOD/movement?
Oof. It’s probably still burpees. They really kill me.
What is one interesting fact many people don’t know about you?
I worked with wild animals doing rehab full-time for 3 years and 1 year part-time. There was a ton of medical stuff involved, which I don’t think people often think about. I’m vaccinated against rabies too. If you need anyone to wrangle a bat or owl or porcupine, you know where to find me. Squirrels are basically my favorite though. Don’t tell the others.
